PLANNING YOUR FIRST VISIT
We are so glad you are thinking about joining us. Whoever you are, and wherever you are on your journey of faith, there is a place for you here at McAlester First United Methodist. Here is what you can expect when you visit.
When We Gather
Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m., and our worship service begins at 10:45 a.m. Plan to arrive a few minutes early so you have time to park, find your way in, and enjoy a cup of coffee before the service starts.
Where to Park and Come In
First-time visitors are welcome to use the north entrance to the Worship and Family Life Center, where it is easy to find your way to the sanctuary. If you are bringing little ones to the nursery, the east tower entrance is the closest way in. You will find parking near both entrances.
When You Arrive
Look for our greeters and ushers at the doors. They are glad to welcome you, answer questions, help you find the nursery or your Sunday School class, and point you toward a seat. You never have to figure it out on your own.
What Worship Is Like
Our worship is warm and rooted in Scripture. You can expect prayer, music, a message from God’s Word, and a children’s moment for our youngest worshipers. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month and on holy days, and all are welcome at the Lord’s table.
What to Wear
Come as you are. Some folks dress up and others keep it casual, and both are right at home here. Wear whatever helps you feel comfortable to worship.
For Families and Accessibility
A loving, secure nursery is available from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for our youngest children, and children are always welcome in worship. A coffee cart is ready to greet you, and our facilities are accessible for those with mobility needs. If there is anything that would make your visit easier, please let us know.
