Rev. Dr. Matt Judkins has been a full-time pastor since 2005 and has served McAlester First Methodist since 2014.
Following graduation from Buffalo Valley High School in Talihina, OK, Matt received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from East Central University in Ada and then spent two years completing a Master’s degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Following this, he was an adjunct professor of biology at Oklahoma City Community College
After answering God’s call to full-time Christian ministry, he served as the mission director and junior high youth director at Chapel Hill UMC in Oklahoma City.
Later, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Drew University.
Before coming to McAlester in 2014, Matt served as an associate pastor at Church of the Servant in Northwest Oklahoma City for nearly six years where he was the minister of teaching and preaching. He is currently working on a certification in Prophetic ministry from Global Awakening College of Ministry.
Matt is passionate about the gospel of Jesus Christ, prayer, the power and work of the Holy Spirit, and the history of Christian renewal and revival.
Chandra comes to our staff with a background in both business and ministry. She has worked for herself in public accounting for nearly ten years. Before owning her business, she served as the Area Director of Young Life here in McAlester. She feels called to preach and teach God’s word in a way that allows others to see it is relevant and personal.
She is a graduate of McAlester High School and the University of Tulsa. She is married to Kyle, and they have two children, Anna and Abram. Outside of work and ministry, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching most any sport, and going to movies and concerts.
Linda has been with McAlester First UMC for more than a decade in the capacity of organist and choir director. She taught music in the public schools for 21 years prior to this tenure. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, and has completed graduate work at both NSU and the University of Tulsa. Her first position as organist was at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Tulsa at the age of 12.
June coordinates our nursery on Sunday mornings and during special events, overseeing our caring staff of paid and volunteer nursery workers. June has an extensive background in child development and has been a part of our staff since 2008.
