The Children’s Programs at First UMC McAlester are of great importance to the mission and ministry of the church. There are Sunday School classes for all ages, starting with Kindergarten. On Wednesdays after school (August through May) there is “KidZone”; a time where we study, pray, play games, and interact with each other in a safe environment.
Times for the programs are:
- Sunday School 9:30 am
- Wednesday after-school 3:15 pm (September through May)
Every summer we take field trips to fun places around the state. Past trips have included The Children’s Museum in Seminole, OK, the Tiger Refuge in Broken Arrow, OK, the OKC Zoo, the Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman, OK, the Arbuckle Wilderness in south central Oklahoma, the water park in Muskogee, and Robber’s Cave State Park.
Every Christmas we present a Children’s Program for the whole church. Participants sing, play chimes, enact the Christmas story, read scripture, play the piano, and show off their special gifts and talents. Practice begins on Wednesday nights in the fall.
